Mechanic and Former Racer

Johnny Cofer comes from a rich racing past behind the wheel, as well as one behind the wrenches with his daughter, Maria Cofer, who debuted for Abacus Racing in 2021.

Johnny grew up racing midgets and sprint cars in California, and in 1994 he captured the USAC Western States Midget Championship. Cofer also finished runner-up in his qualifying night for the 1995 Chili Bowl Nationals, and he went on to finish 9th in the Saturday Feature.
